Matrix Setup Guide

How to configure TradersPost for your specific prop firm rules.

Topstep / Apex ($50k Evaluation)

If you are trading a $50k account, you MUST trade Micros (MNQ, MES) to avoid hitting the daily drawdown limit.

1. Ticker Override (CRITICAL)

In your TradersPost Strategy settings, set Ticker Mapping: NQ = MNQ and ES = MES.

2. Fixed Quantity

Under Order Settings, set "Quantity Type" to Fixed and "Quantity" to 2.

3. Daily Loss Limit

Set "Max Daily Loss" to $450 (this will halt trades before your Prop Firm fails you).

Apex ($150k Evaluation)

If you have a $150k account with a large trailing drawdown, you can safely trade the standard Mini contracts (NQ, ES).

1. Standard Tickers

No ticker overrides needed. Let the webhook send NQ directly to your broker.

2. Percentage Risk

Under Order Settings, set "Quantity Type" to Percent of Equity and use 1%.

3. Daily Loss Limit

Set "Max Daily Loss" to $2,500.

Recommended Institutional Risk Profile

Mirror our exact risk parameters to give trades enough room to breathe without blowing your account.

Advanced RR & Trailing Stops

  • Stop Loss: 35 - 45 Points
  • Take Profit: 60 - 80 Points
  • Avg RR: 1:1.5 to 1:2
  • Trailing Stop (Optional): If TradersPost allows, enable a Breakeven Trigger at +30 points, or a 20-point Trailing Stop once in profit.

Breathing Room

Nasdaq (NQ) is highly volatile. Tight 10-point stops will get hunted. Using a 40-point stop loss gives the algorithm the breathing room it needs to let the institutional order blocks form and push the trade into profit.

Account Sizing

If a 40-point Stop Loss on a standard Mini ($800 risk) violates your Daily Drawdown limit, you must size down to Micros. A 40-point Stop Loss on 2 Micros is only $160 risk. Protect your capital first.

Automated Exits

On the main Dashboard, you have the option to toggle Allow Automated Exits.

Toggle ENABLED (Recommended)

The Algorithm will send Entries AND its own proprietary Exit signals to secure profits.

Toggle DISABLED

The Algorithm will ONLY send Entry signals. You assume full responsibility for closing trades via TradersPost Stop Loss / Take Profit brackets.

Position Sizing & Contract Conversion

You have full control over the trade sizes. You do NOT have to trade the exact quantity or contract size our algorithm trades.

Converting Mini to Micro

If the algorithm trades 1 NQ (Mini) but your account size requires Micros, simply set up a Ticker Mapping in TradersPost:

  • Map NQ to MNQ.
  • TradersPost will automatically convert the incoming NQ signal and execute MNQ on your broker.

Adjusting Quantities

You can override the algorithm's quantity entirely in TradersPost Order Settings:

  • Set "Quantity Type" to Fixed to always trade your preferred number of contracts (e.g., exactly 2 MNQ), ignoring the algorithm's size.
  • Or set it to Percent of Equity to dynamically scale your risk as your account grows.

Verification & Rollovers

Critical maintenance tasks to ensure your automated trading runs flawlessly.

1. Testing the Webhook

After connecting, click "Verify Connection" on the Dashboard. This will fire a dummy BUY signal.

  • Check your TradersPost Logs to see if it received a [200 OK].
  • Verify your prop firm account executed a mock Buy.
  • Ensure your Take Profit and Stop Loss brackets triggered correctly!

2. Contract Rollovers

Futures contracts roll over every 3 months (e.g., NQM4 to NQU4).

  • The Antenna only sends continuous tickers (NQ).
  • You MUST let TradersPost map continuous tickers to the active front-month automatically.
  • Never hardcode NQM4 in your TradersPost ticker overrides.
